I am absolutely convinced that Maggie Dallen doesn't write crappy books. I have yet to come across one of hers that I didn't love and want to reread immediately! If I thought "Senior Week Fling" was my favorite in this series, about childhood friends Adam and Eve, I was mistaken . Now I'm actually conflicted on which one I love more because this "Enemies to lovers" romance was perfect!Layla and Jack are an unlikely pair with her crush on his friend and band mate Dylan and his penchant for teasing her mercilessly. This worked on every level and I highly enjoyed watching Layla clue in to not only Jack's feelings but who he was as a person. The fact that they sang together only added that much more charm and became the cherry on top for me. I'm hooked on this series for so many reasons so I can't wait to start the next one!
What a beautiful story of first love. Layla very much believes in ‘destiny’ and ‘fate’, so when she gets the chance to spend her senior week with her long standing crush, Dylan, life should be grand, right? The only problem is finding a ride and Jack, her arch-nemesis, plans on helping her get to the senior week beach trip, but only if she agrees to sing for his band. What entails these two characters is a funny, lovable adventure that promises to blossom into more. There were a few moments I could have shook Layla to see what’s in front of her, but she needed to follow her gut for once. Jack is one entertaining character with a pretty adorable emotional side.I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys reading young adult contemporary romance stories.Senior Week Crush is the second book in the Summer Love series, both complete standalone stories.Final Rating: 5 Stars
Layla only has eyes for Dylan. Major crush alert! She is convinced fate will bring them together. But to get to her destiny, she has to make a deal with the ‘devil’: Jack, whom she actively dislikes.I liked Layla. She’s relatable. I loved the book and I thought it had just the right ratio of inner dialogue and things happening. An engaging, sweet, and cute love story with a good flow and a good pace. I’m not sure if everyone in the target group will understand the Lay Lady Lay reference though ;)
Great read for YA's! Layla's always had a crush on her next door neighbor Dylan, and when he finally breaks up with his longtime girlfriend, she sees it as fate intervening for them to finally be together! When he asks if she's going to Senior Week down the shore, she says yes, thinking this is their chance to finally get together! Unfortunately she does not have a ride there! Dylan's friend and fellow band member Jack, offers her a ride if she agrees to sing in their band while at Senior Week, to which she agrees. Layla truly believes that they are destined to be together, but does fate actually have other plans for them? Must read to find out!
This book is romantic, empowering, funny, clever, charming and totally satisfying! I looked forward to every event in the story, every next snippet of dialogue-- and the prose is so delightful! Reading this book is just sheer pleasure. This is a wonderful story where everything pays off. Sure, some call it a typical YA romance, but it is done VERY WELL -- superior relationship development. This is totally the kind of book I will re-read when I am in the mood for an comfy favorite that delivers pure joy!
Ok I will start by saying I have a 17 year old daughter (clue to my age). I was bored one weekend and kept looking for something to read, and nothing peaked my interest. I was straightening up my daughters room and saw this book and thought why not, not expecting much. Well I was wrong, it is about being a Teenager, but the characters were well developed, likable with flaws. It was a fun read, I just wish I could know what happened to the two main characters.
Sweet and super cute. Jack was adorable and Layla was clueless, at first. Ahh, first love. Definitely recommend. Quick, clean read.
Liked the plot and cuteness of it. Kind of a typical ending but liked how they got there. Different story line for once but cute HEA at their best.
